Sportswear giant Puma has been named the most sustainable fashion brand in the world by the Business of Fashion's Sustainability Index 2022. The index, which ranks the 30 largest fashion companies in the world, assesses brands on their environmental and social impact, as well as their transparency and governance.
Puma scored 49 out of 100 points, beating out Nike, which came in second place with a score of 47. The German company was praised for its ambitious sustainability goals, which include reducing its carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and using 100% recycled polyester in its products by 2025.
Puma has also been working to improve the working conditions in its supply chain. In 2021, the company signed the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action and the Fashion Pact, which commit brands to taking action on climate change and sustainability.
